In what comes as a blow to Tottenham’s rumoured pursuit of Lloyd Kelly, Foot Mercato have now revealed that the centre-back has agreed to join Newcastle on a free transfer this summer.
Kelly’s current contract with Bournemouth runs out in June and it has been widely reported over recent weeks that Spurs and Newcastle are among the clubs circling over the defender.
In fact, just a couple of days ago, GiveMeSport suggested that the Magpies are wary of Spurs or another club swooping for the Englishman.
It was explained in the report that there was some concern at St James’ Park that the 25-year-old would use Newcastle’s offer as leverage to land a bigger deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium or elsewhere.
Newcastle United agree terms with Lloyd Kelly
However, if Foot Mercato’s latest report is to be believed, Kelly is one step closer to sealing a move to the North East.
The report says that the versatile defender, who can play at left-back or in the middle of the defence, has now reached a verbal agreement on a deal with Eddie Howe’s men.

It was always clear that Newcastle were the favourites to land Kelly and I fear Spurs could also end up missing out on Adarabioyo, who is also going to have plenty of options to choose from this summer.
