Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton welcomed reality television star and businesswoman Kendall Jenner to the Miami Grand Prix and took her for a rapid spin around the circuit
Lewis Hamilton left Kendall Jenner screaming as he drove her around Miami’s Formula 1 circuit.
The reality television star begged the seven-times F1 world champion to slow down as she took to the passenger seat as Hamilton raced a hot lap in the United States. The pair jumped in a $136,000 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT to fly around the Miami International Autodrome.
Jenner, who was in attendance to support the all-female feeder series F1 academy, was not quite prepared for lay in store. Hamilton pre-empted his drive with a fist bump.
It was a tentative start as Hamilton asked if his friend was ready. The 28-year-old replied: “I guess.” before unleashing her first scream as they prepared to pull away. “I’m terrified,” she said as the vehicle started to move.
The superstar’s language got more colourful as Hamilton put his foot down however. The Mercedes racer teased her as he prolonged the lap and sent the car jerking around the track.
“Holy f**k,” she shrieked as Hamilton accelerated through the gears and she was later shown screaming his name, before adding: “Oh my god, holy s**t’, I’m gonna cry.”
“We have the Met Gala on Monday,” Jenner yelled as Hamilton ramped up the fear and excitement of the ride. It’s safe to say there was an element of relief when it was all over.
“I feel so much better now that it’s over,” she said, before telling her friends “I screamed the whole time. It was amazing but it was terrifying at the same time.”
The likes of George Russell was also in attendance as Hamilton took his fellow Thomas Hilfiger ambassador for a spin. It was not a case of making a good first impression for the duo being filmed however.
Hamilton has previously shot down speculation that they were dating and the pals appear to have started a friendship in 2015. “Me and Kendall have been friends for a while, so we’re just friends,” Hamilton told E! in September 2015.
“She’s doing incredible, she’s very focused, very level-headed, and she’s just — for such a young woman, she’s very grown up.”
Following a lap of fun with his friend Hamilton was able to record a sixth place finish in the Miami Grand Prix. The veteran racer out-performed teammate Russell who finished eighth, as he continues his final season with Mercedes before moving to Ferrari.
