Tottenham lost the North London Derby this weekend to Arsenal and Micah Richards is not happy with one of their players.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou watched on in disbelief as his side found themselves 3-0 down at half-time out of nowhere.
Two set-pieces and a counter-attack did for Spurs, before they fought back and produced a stirring second 45 minutes to make the game finish tensely.
However, it wasn’t to be in the end and the results table will simply read Arsenal win.
Of course, Tottenham’s defending from set-pieces left a lot to be desired. They twice conceded from corners in what was really frustrating for ‘Big Ange.
And commenting on those goals, Micah Richards has said that goalkeeper Vicario needs to have more about him in the six yard box.
Micah Richards unimpressed with Vicario for Tottenham v Arsenal
Speaking about Vicario on the Rest Is Football, Richards lamented the Italian stopper for not having the right amount of aggression in his game.
“Vicario has been outstanding (this season), but he needs to be aggressive. If someone is standing in front of you, push him out of the way, I don’t understand why he is so nice.
“Like the old-school goalkeepers back in the day, Peter Schmeichel comes to mind, even David James with his frame and his size, if someone is in your space, move him out of the way. If he can’t see the ball, he can’t get a head on it,” Richards said.
Vicario was a £17m signing in the summer and in the main, has had a good first season.
However, as Richards says here, he was bullied a touch and you have to think that is something his manager will not be happy with.
Arsenal simply exploited him and it paid dividends for them as they twice scored from dead-balls.
Tottenham, then, seem to have a long way to go before they’re anywhere close to being the finished article under Postecoglou.
